The Devil Wears Prada

Why do we buy into brands when there are cheaper options of the same quality? Why do we choose not to save our hard-earned cash?

The answer is deeper than you think…

Why do we buy into brands when there are cheaper options of the same quality?

It stems from low self-esteem. We seek worthiness from others through their acceptance.

But those that are attracted to you by what you have aren't real friends and worth having in the first place.

It is only when we embark on a spiritual self-development journey to wholeness and completeness can we begin to experience true freedom; to be beyond the influence of people and possessions.

Do you find yourself needing to purchase things that you don't really need? Were you the person that was a shopaholic but now is embracing minimalism? Do let me know in the comments. I would love to know where you are at in your spiritual journey and if I can help in anyway.

May the infinite love of this universe always bless you.

I am a shopaholic. Though I do not buy expensive brands, I usually spend much more than I’d liked to in an ideal world. Somehow it seems that I do need all these things and buying them makes me happy, at least for some time.

Hi Alex, Thank you for your comment. I thought it was very interesting because, without realising it, you have already begun healing. Firstly, you have admitted there is a problem. That is the main step. Secondly, you have understood that the happiness you get from purchasing things is only temporary. You are not getting lasting happiness this way. Over the next week I will write a detailed blog about how to overcome a shopping addiction. Also I offer coaching sessions at very reasonable rates (£10 per hour) to help as many people as I can. If you are interested, let me know... Anita Anand x
